Creative Exchange is an East Belfast charitable visual art collective. Our vision is to develop visual arts through the provision of artist’s studio space and the management of an annual arts programme. We engage in the development of arts activities in the Greater Belfast area, including dedicated education and outreach activities with special emphasis on East Belfast.
Existing since 1996 we have a proven track record and during this time have made a significant contribution through creative partnerships and the management of numerous high profile visual arts events and educational programmes. These have included the successful delivery of over 100 exhibitions, artist’s talks, heritage debates, international exchange programmes, and delivery of a wide variety of educational and outreach activities.
Locally, we have managed creative public art projects throughout the East Belfast and Shankill areas, created 3 artworks for the Peace Wall at Cupar Way in 2010, and delivered 2 East Belfast public artworks on the Newtownards Road in 2012, in partnership with East Belfast Partnership. We have successfully managed an annual programme of ‘Art in the Eastside’ since 2010, which has grown from 9 billboards in 2010 to 50 in 2013 and the socially engaged ‘Art Flag Bunting’ project. In April 2013 we took the ‘Art Flag Bunting” project to Michigan in USA as it was selected for the International Flint Public Art Festival. At an international level, through the Grasses and xChangeVisions projects, we have partnered with over 140 Irish and American artists and over a dozen organizations, resulting in more than 30 exhibitions and 5 major collaborative projects.
